Introduction and Recap
Welcome back! We have completed five strong seasons of RHL hockey and are looking forward to an exciting 6th edition this season. Congratulations to the regular season champion Lindsay Wazooz as well as the RHL 2008-2009 Manufacturers Cup Champion Alliston 93 Leafs. I hope they enjoyed the rewards of such an incredible accomplishment.
We will again ice 12 teams with no indication of any ownership change for the first time in RHL history. Existing RHL owners are safe with their teams for as long as they contribute to the league and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their dedication. Draft and Lineups
- Community Draft each player unique to your team (ie. Player cannot be picked twice) Thu Sep 24 8:00pm EDT
- 6 forwards, 4 defense, and 2 Goalies (dressed players) and 4 spares (bench players) to be selected in ANY order you choose. You should have a total of 16 players after the draft.
- BE PREPARED. We have 12 teams and we are looking at 192 players drafted. This means you must have a list of players handy and scratch off the ones drafted so you know who’s left (the Yahoo site has a list of players ranked if you want to use it and the players will be removed as drafted using the Yahoo draft). The draft will take approximately 1.5 hours!!
The League
- Head to Head style hockey pool
- Each forward and defense player you choose to dress in a given week will contribute to a total in each of these categories: Goals (G), Assists (A), Penalty Minutes (PIM), Plus/Minus (+/-), and Game Winning Goals, (GWG).
- Each goalie you choose to dress in a given week will contribute to a total in each of these categories: Wins (W) and Save Percentage (S%).
- You will play these players against an opposing member’s players for a whole week in which at the end, each category will be totaled. For each category you have a greater amount, you will receive a WIN and the opposing player will receive a LOSS (or vise versa), and for each category that finish that week even, you both will receive a TIE. The next week you will play another member and the Wins, losses and ties will cumulate throughout the season for a total.
- The top 6 teams in points will make the playoffs and any other teams remaining will go into a consolidation round for placement. **Note our league playoffs happen during the final weeks of the actual regular NHL season, not during the NHL playoffs.
Waivers
- You may release a player from your roster at which point any other team interested may take the player but you may not take him back until after the waiver period.
- The waiver period is 2 days, and if no one expresses interest in that player he becomes a free agent at which point anyone may pick him up. If someone has claimed that player he joins that team 4 -8 hours after the waiver period.
- If more than one team claims the same player, the team that is highest on the Waiver Priority List is given the rights to the player. The priority list is initially set based on the reverse of the draft order. However, each time you add a waived player to your roster, you are pushed to the back of the list. This "rolling" list stays in effect for the entire season.
Trades
- There will be no limit to the amount of trades you may do with other members; however each trade will be “on hold” for 1 day in order for the commissioner to review. After the waiting period is over the trade will be processed (may take 24hours).
- The trade deadline date is March 4th 2010
IR
- In order to be eligible for the IR position, a player must be on the real-life injured reserve list.
- When a player is placed on the real-life IR that will show as one of the positions in his drop-down menu. To place that player on your team's IR, select the IR position choice and hit the Submit Changes button. Once you have done this, you will be able to pick up a new player from the Available Players list.
